Kim Demiş Kadından Çiftçi, Mühendis olamaz diye?
Arazi sahipleri ile tartışırken, yanlış yapıyorsunuz birlikte daha iyisini yapacağız diye onların dilinden erkek çiftçileri ve arazi sahiplerini ikna etmeye çalışırken, her girdiğimiz köyde acaba daha fazla ne bulur ve eker çoğaltırız, inadındayken! Traktörün başında tüm araziye hakim, yaptıkları işten emin, toprakla, tohumla ve kadınlarla heyecan ve gururla ilerlerken izliyorum onları!
Gözlerim doluyor ve iyi bir yoldasın Ebru diyorum kendi kendime! Kim demiş kadından çiftçi, mühendis olmaz diye! Anadolu’da erkek egemen bir sektörde sadece geleneksel aile işçisi diye nitelendiren isimsiz kahramanlar diye biliyoruz biz kadın çiftçilerimizi. Kimse onların bir profesyonel olarak toprağa hükmedebileceğini konduramıyor bile! Ama onlar fırsat verildiğinde neler yapılabileceklerinin en iyisini gösteriyorlar bize!
Mizgin ve Rengin; size, hayat görüşünüze benimle bu yola çıkarken gözü kara oluşunuza, kararlılığınıza, tohuma ve toprağa hayat vermek için verdiğiniz çabaya, saygıya hayranım! Kadından çiftçi, mühendis olmaz diye evde oturmaya mahkum edilen yada mühendis olup toprakta kabul görmeyip toprağın kendilerine en ihtiyaç duyduğunda hayatlarını başka işlerde sürdürmek zorunda kalan tüm kadın ziraat mühendisler için bu bölgede bir umut olacağınızdan eminim.

Who said a woman can’t be a farmer or an engineer?
While discussing with male farmers and landowners; while speaking from their language and trying to convince them that they are doing wrong and together we can do it better; while being stubborn to find more things to plant and reproduce in each village we enter… As women move forward with the earth and the seeds, dominating the land at the wheel of tractor, feeling confident of the work they do, i am watching them with excitement and pride!
My eyes fill with tears and i tell myself you are in a good way Ebru! Who said women can’t be farmer or engineer?! In a male-dominated sector in Anatolia, we know our female farmers as only nameless heroes who are described as traditional family workers. Nobody thinks that they can rule the earth as a professional. However, when they are given the opportunity, they show us the best they can do.
Mizgin and Rengin; I admire you, your world-view, your bravery when starting this journey with me, your determination, your efforts and your respect to give life to seeds and soil.
