Mardin’deki yemek kültürlerinin araştırılmasında, uygulanmasında ve gençlere öğretilmesinde katkısı çok büyük.
Öğrendiklerini diğer kadınlara öğreterek onların meslek sahibi olması ve kendi ayakları üzerinde durması için öncülük ediyor.
Şimdi mülteci kızlara mutfağını öğretmek için onlarla çalışıyor. Onların kendi hayatlarını kurmaları, huzur ve güvenle hayatlarını devam ettirebilmeleri onun gösterdiği emeğin en büyük kazancı olduğunu düşünüyor.
Beginning, logic, color, serenity, calm, enthusiastic and loyalty are the most beautiful words to describe Süreyya. Süreyya, who is the chef of the mansion, is primary school graduate and she is with us since the opening of Cercis Murat Mansion.
She is one of those women, who left her old discomforting past and started their new life with courage and self-confidence thanks to Cercis Murat Mansion. The place that she is most peaceful and trusted is her counter and stove that she is working with for eighteen years.
Her contribution is enormous for researching, applying and teaching Mardin’s food culture to the younger generations. She is teaching her knowledge to other women in order to them to become professionals and stand at their own feet.
Now, she is working with refugee women to teach them her kitchen. She thinks that, helping them to develop their own life and seeing them moving on is the biggest prize of her effort.
